This past month my church made a conscious decision to celebrate the service my husband and I have provided to them the last 13 years. Every week there was another special surprise waiting for us.  It was such a breath of life for us.  While we serve God with our hearts and look only to Him for approval, it is discouraging when the people you serve take and never give back. It can hurt to have people unappreciative for the many sacrifices you make to give them support or even resources.  I did not experience that discouragement this month. This month, I was loved on, catered to, looked after and recognized for the love I poured out.  My church family poured back into our family this month. They fed us, looked after us, acknowledged us, prayed for us, and told us they were there for us! To me, we have the best church family in the whole wide world!

The bible says to esteem others higher than yourself. They did that to us.  The bible tells believers to give their pastors double honor. In a day when pastors are disrespected and made fun of, they honored us triple. Words can't communicate the appreciation I have for the people God sent to our church who value honor.  Everyone is not mindful of this and as servants of God, it's not easy to communicate the need and the obedience for this kind of honor.  So today, I celebrate the leaders and the members who made honoring us in word and deed a priority this month.  We love and appreciate you! Your deeds gave us new breath for life and service in this coming season.  Now that God used you all to strengthen us and renew our faith... We've got work to do.... So pull up those sleeves and put on those boots... We are going to the trenches and we're going with you! Love you!!

Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine. For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain,” and, “The laborer is worthy of his wages.” 2 Timothy 5:17-18

I woke up this morning and was reminded of the power of Jesus and its ability to cover my sons.  We've been talking about family all month in church from the pulpit and as a mother, I want to practice what I preach.  The blood of Jesus covers sin and cleanses hearts.  Because I know this, I always ask The Lord to teach my sons His ways so they grow up to know Him as Lord and friend.  But as I kept thinking I was reminded of the priestly blessing we spoke of yesterday that Moses told the priests to pray over the children of Israel.

This is what really got me excited.... And I'll get to the prayer in a minute, but when I know God has told someone in the bible to do something, it's His desires and His plans to see it done. And when our Heavenly Father tells us how to pray to Him, it shows how much He
desires to be what we need and do for us what no one can.  Every now and then I'm reminded that a mother's heart has been fashioned to mirror the heart of God when it comes to our children. That alone keeps me seeking His face, because I want to love my children the best way I know how.  If I have to become more like Christ to do it, then let's go, Jesus! I want my full body makeover!!

Now the prayer says to ask God to bless and protect us.  Then it asks God to smile upon us and be gracious to us.  Lastly, it asks God to show us His favor and give us His peace. We are to pray this everyday.  What a wonderful way to have the hand of God active in our lives. To see the Lord bless us in every area and keep us safe while we live is enough.
But then to have our God smile upon us lets me know that His pleasure in His people is real. He loves us and it's evident.  I'm so glad He loves me and I know it.  I believe some people don't know how great His love is towards them and so I ask for them, Lord, smile upon them and be gracious to them.

Where would we be without His favor and His peace? Wonderful, just wonderful!
His favor is what I live by. His peace is what keeps me. Thank you Lord for knowing what I need to survive and then having what I need in plenty.  This stuff never runs out.

Pray that today and everyday over your children and your household.... Show your children just how thoughtful God is to care for them and cover them as they live. It blessed my sons, I know it will bless yours!!

'May the LORD bless you
and protect you.
May the LORD smile on you
and be gracious to you.
May the LORD show you his favor
and give you his peace.'

This is the house that Jack built.

This is the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.

This is the rat,
That ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.

This is the cat,
That killed the rat,
That ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.

Have you ever heard this nursery rhyme by Mother Goose? I loved this one when I was a little girl. I would read it over and over again at night because I thought this poem was so clever. As a child, the repitition kept me reading more. I liked how when the poem grew linger, I could recite the lines as my mother neared the end of the stanza.

I'm older now and when I read scriptures like Hebrews where it tells us we are the house that Christ built... I immediately look for a deeper meaning in childhood poetry. The poem in its summary is telling us all of the things that go on in the house that Jack built. As the poem gets longer, your perception of Jack's house changes with each new character being introduced. Like jack, Christ built a house that started out really simple but grew more complicated the more people came to dwell in His house. Like Jack, no matter how much stuff went on, it was still Jacks's house. It was still the thing his hands got intimate and personal with until it was finished.

Unlike jack, the house that Christ built is still being built. The many rooms that were built were for the children God planned to have intimate and honorable relationships with. Unlike Jack, you are part of that house and Christ is finishing His work in you.

Be mindful that you don't mistake yourself for Jack. Christ is the one doing the building, He is ordering your steps. Your life is not your own and neither is your fellow brother or sister in The Lord. Whether you see craziness or down right ignorance, remember that they are still God's house and He builds as He chooses. Your only job is to remain confident and full of rejoicing because you know the day will come when all the God said will be. Until then, don't get sidetracked by the continuous discouraging patterns you see... Wait for your lines... They all end the same....that lay in the house that Christ built. God bless you!!

4 For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God. 5 And Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward, 6 but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end. Hebrews 3:4-6

So we are watching television around 8:30pm and my youngest has to go to the bathroom. We tell him to go downstairs and use it because someone is in the upstairs bathroom. He begins to go and then when he reaches the end of the hallway, stops. He comes back and says he can't go downstairs because he is scared. My other son blurts out, "What you mean you scared? You are scared in your own house?"

We laughed so hard. Then after a few minutes I thought hard about what he said. It really made no sense for him to be scared. My son was born in this house. He has walked up and down the same steps hundreds if not thousands of times and has gone to the bathroom at all times of the day. He has his parents and his brothers here with him at all times, yet this one particular time as he is going down the steps again, he pauses because fear has gripped him. Darkness has made his home unfamiliar.

Why do we allow the enemy to make God's plans and God's presence unfamiliar? Why do we let his lies make us afraid of doing and being the things God has already spoken on? Why do we stop in the middle of our journeys and remain stagnant because we are afraid of things we've seen? The past grips us and paralyses us. Darkness plays games with our minds and makes us feel alone.

But just like my son, our Heavenly Father is right there in the house. Our fellow brothers and sisters are there in the house. Love, joy, peace and the Holy Spirit are in the house. God's word spoken over us is in the house! There is no need to fear because Jesus has overcome the world. When He overcame the world, we became over comers as well. We are now kingdom children. We live in the world but we are not from the world and the world does not control our outcomes. It's time to realize the our house is in Christ Jesus and the kingdom of God is where we dwell. Home is what you make it, and where you make it.

Stop living in fear and disbelief. Let God show you His plans and live in His presence. There is nothing to fear there and all your equipment for success and triumph are there. This is your house!!!! No need to be afraid in your own home.

God bless you!!!

For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. How many Consequences are you living out now because you rushed into something instead of
Stopping and thinking it through? How many warnings did you ignore when God was trying to tell you to stop and think but instead you wanted what you wanted and you wanted it now?

I can recall countless times and as I look back on those times I really feel and wish I would've waited on God. There's a scripture in the Bible talking about my soul waiting and me putting my hope in God's word. It describes watchmen waiting until morning. These watchmen are guarding the city, guarding the people, and guarding their own lives. When the morning comes they'll be able to come off their post and rest because no harm would have been done. The thing is as they wait, they wait through the night and the darkness which is the hardest part of the day. But they wait and they stay awake while they wait.

Our times of darkness and insecurities can be the hardest times to wait on God and trust His plans for us. Some of His plans are written in black and white ( or red) and we fight within ourselves to follow Him because we fear the process of breakthrough. It might get darker before it gets better and we don't want to go through that. We get restless and grow tired because we want something to change NOW and so we flirt with temptations that suggest there is another way or a better way than what God has said.

Some of His plans are revealed in the journey which means our lives have to remain submitted to Him. We don't like that part because His ways must become our ways and His thoughts our thoughts. But if our soul can learn to wait on God, it will see the morning! It will experience the great changes that come with serving God. Our hope can be in God's word and our faith can be strengthened.

The next time something comes up that you are ready to see changes in and you feel the urge to move ahead of God, tell yourself.... "Self, it can wait! And YOU will wait on The Lord." Find comfort in knowing Your God does not fail and His word does not return to Himself without results. When your soul has learned to wait on The Lord, your circumstances will learn that victory is its only option!! Anything less than victory is just not good enough anymore!!!

Wait on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord! Psalms 27:14

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;
Do not fret— it only causes harm.
For evildoers shall be cut off;
But those who wait on the Lord,
They shall inherit the earth. Psalms 37:7-9

Today we talked about the covenant God made with Abraham, the covenant that now is the inheritance of Christians as well. It was such a refreshing truth to hear as God revealed His precious promises to us. I was blessed to know that because of God's eternal covenant with the descendants of Abraham, I can know with confidence that He will never leave me and will always love me. In case we didn't know, my faith in Christ as Lord qualifies me for the birthright of every descendant... I am now heir to the promise...He will take me as I am and bring me to a fulfilled and complete place when I respond to His goodness. If I don't do my part and I fall or I mess up, He'll be right there waiting for me to get my act together. His anger is but for a moment, His eternal loves flows continuously for me. Who else in the whole universe can keep their promise to never grow tired of your failures and your inconsistencies... Yet stand with you and believe the best for you even when you can't see it? God can and He will because He promised!

It's real to me! The favor of God is so apparent in my life. He blesses what I do and where I go! He causes me to prosper. Since I've been living for The Lord, He has opened doors that seemed impossible to walk through and has caused my children to prosper and shine. His hand is upon me and my children.

It can be real to you too! As much as I think so, I am not special and His word doesn't just apply to me. His covenant is for all of His children, for every believer that accepts His covenant. Our God sent His Son to die for your life. He doesn't stop there but also secures your life by promising to stay with you through the course of your entire journey. You can have confidence through your entire walk that He will keep you. He will commit to you and will grace and mercy you all the way to wholeness and restoration, victory and triumph!

Our God's arms is a great place to be!!! His words are priceless!

When we were young children we were told we could do anything. When we were being potty trained, we were told, "you can do it". Tying shoes, riding a bike, roller skating... We could do it all. One of our main goals in raising our children is to teach them to believe. We don't want them to have limits or expectations, we want them to triumph over every milestone they face. When they get older and things get harder we encourage them and tell them to never give up.

If you are a believer in The Lord, you must know that you have a loving Father who parents us much in the same way we parent our children. He has expectations for us and desires for us to be overcomers in this life. We each have spiritual milestones, some of which may seem natural to some on the surface but are very spiritual at its core. God says with Him all things are possible. Our Father says we are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus. He says we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. We must begin to have child-like faith and believe our Father like our children believe us. Don't you want your kids to trust your words? When you tell them to trust you, don't you expect them to let go of their fears and just step out on what you say?

Our Daddy in Heaven wants the same thing... And further He can back up His words to help you accomplish the impossible! What's the impossible for you? Is it finishing school? Starting a business? Waiting for the mate God has for you? Selling completely out to God? Stepping up in ministry and taking your next level by storm? I know what mine are and I have already started challenging every doubt with God's word for my life. It's time for me to run my race and not look back. Today was a new day and tomorrow is another one. I plan to meet each new day of grace and mercy with a decision and an act of faith. I am who God says I am!

Praise The Lord!!!

I just got off Skype with my mother and we were drawn into the revelation of God's mercy, love and constant faithfulness to us. As we talked more and more about the Holy Spirit's leadership in our lives, we began to think about the fact that the Holy Spirit was promised.

One way to look at a promise is in the form of a guarantee. It's assurance. A promissory note is a written promise guaranteeing that you'll get what someone said you would get. It's tangible and brings security to you while you wait for the appointed time to come. Christ promised the Holy Spirit would come and be with them and in them at an appointed time. In fact the Holy Spirit is our guarantee that we'll get what Jesus said we can have. When the Holy Spirit came upon the Apostles, the received power. This was something Jesus said they would get. Having the Holy Spirit was the same as having the tangible thing they expected. Peter did things under the power of the Holy Spirit that he struggled doing every other day of His life. The Apostles found themselves changing cities and families through their faith when before, they were just mere fishermen. The Holy Spirit made sure they fulfilled the things Jesus said they would.

What then? Do we have excuses not to become who God said we would become? Should we fear what people say about us in our times of weakness and growth? Should we keep record of our wrong or our failures? No! It's not your abilities or your strengths that have allowed you to see what you have thus far. It's the Holy Spirit coming upon your faith and your gifts and your obedience to let God perfect you. The difference between you and the person you think is so great is the measure of confidence they have over you... And this they got from learning to stay rooted and grounded in the work God called them to do.

If you are a generator that provides power when power has stopped flowing, and your faith is the chord, being plugged into a power source like the wall socket won't help because there is no power flowing from the wall. You can't work and won't see results. But if you are this same generator and you realize the ability to generate power is within you, you won't look for someone to give you power, you have the power inside you. You just need to oil and some gas to make you work!!!!

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him. 1 John 2:27

I have the pleasure of teaching some pretty awesome middle schoolers. What I love the most about this age group is their fresh opinion and moldable spirit. Sometimes it can work for them and at other times against them. Today we talked about Integrity and what it meant and how important it was to have it. Some of my students didn't know what it meant, others had never heard of the term. At first I was shocked because I was introduced to the term in school by my 5th grade teacher. But this was also the teacher that introduced our class to acoustic guitar, the opera and science fairs with the internal organs of cows displayed all over our classroom. This same teacher taught us how to plan for the future by helping us fundraise all school year for a dinner for our parents that would be held in May. I actually think he was my best teacher. (Who knew he would teach me lasting principles about life?)

So I was shocked that some had never heard the term. But as I was driving home The Lord began to bring revelation to the forefront of my mind about this term.

This kind of truth is not learned as a word but as a form of many actions you experience from those around you. If someone did not have integrity when they interacted with you, you would not know either. You learned it first as an action, and then you responded to it. If you respected the person, you emulated their behavior. Later you learned that integrity was what it was called.

Wow! If someone did not show me by their actions, my morals and my honor would be endangered. The ability to respect others and choose right over wrong, just because it's the right thing to do might not exist either. Having a conscious and a fear for God might not have been fostered. I could have been that rude girl with no respect for authority or for myself. I could have been a liar and a cheater because no one told me my value and my purpose in life. All of these things and more aren't caught, they're taught. And You can't fake this either, you've got to be this in order to teach it to someone else.

I felt my responsibility as a teacher go to another level. Further, so did my life as a Christian. People will learn from what I live before them, not just by what I say.

Take time today and ask God what territory and what areas in life He has placed you in to teach others about integrity, about making good choices, even about who He is. Who's life will be lacking if you don't practice what you preach? Who's watching you and emulating you because they think you are great? You'd be surprised how many people are changing (or dying) because they know you. Think about it and then if need be, switch it up. You could be the brilliant teacher that molds a brilliant mind. After all, you're who you are because someone was something in your life.

Proverbs 4:23-27
Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth, And put devious lips far from you. Let your eyes look directly ahead, And let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you. Watch the path of your feet, And all your ways will be established. Do not turn to the right nor to the left; Turn your foot from evil.

Genesis 18:19
"For I have chosen him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing righteousness and justice; in order that the LORD may bring upon Abraham what He has spoken about him."

Let these scriptures bless you!

So I'm talking to my youngest son and out of the blue he begins to ask me about the day he was born. He wants to know if it hurt when he came out of my tummy. I laugh to myself because unless a woman has a C-section, we all know babies don't come out of our tummies. He's too young to get into the truths of labor so I tell him, "Yes, it hurt but Mommy took medicine when you were born to help with the pain". He then says, "If it hurt how come you didn't stop? I could have just come out later." My response, " you had to come out because if you had stayed in my tummy, you would have gotten too big and then you would have really hurt Mommy"

"How did I come out?" As you read, know this is my four year old. I tell him, " I pushed past the pain until you came out." "Did it still hurt after I got out?" I tell him, "yes but not as much as it did before."

My son was talking about labor, but my spirit began to hear the cries of believers who are pregnant with purpose and are afraid to move forward because of pain. The first time I felt a labor pain, I almost lost my mind and did not want to go through with it. Wasn't there another way for this baby to come out? The thought of me having to feel this pain for the next unknown number of hours was torment to my young mind. But with every pain, I Iearned that if I calmed myself and accepted it, though it was still bad... I could get through it.

Don't give up when you are so close to seeing your end results. Sometimes it gets the hardest right when the thing you've been waiting for it almost here. Persevering to the end can be the hardest mentally and emotionally, so much so you want to give up... but you can't because in just a few moments, the beautiful thing that's been growing inside you will be ready to come out for everyone around you to see. If you remain steadfast, God will give you the strength to push past the pain and the disappointments that exist so you can see the fruit of your labor.

Accept the pain, accept that it happened, that it may have been your fault, that its over and that you can move from this place. Accept that you're stronger because of it, that God was with you the entire time.. Thats's why you're still here... And that it's going to get better.

Now push, push your way through it, push in the midst of the pain, let the pain work for you and not against you, push past it and then breathe, because you're almost there and it's about to get good for you. Keep your mind stayed on things God has said to you and remember that your labor will never be in vain... In Christ, our end is always better than our beginnings. Hallelujah!!!

So then he asks me, "Did Nana spank you when you were a little girl?" I guess that's the closest to pain he'll get for now since he'll never know what it feels like to give birth. Let me stop typing, I just got another word out of that... Hit me up if you got it too!

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28

For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

I woke up this morning knowing I needed to work out but dreading it at the same time. I haven't worked out in about 2 weeks and the thought of beginning again was almost haunting me. I hated that I allowed myself to stop in the first place because I knew how hard it would be to start again. Isn't it funny how it takes so long to build a habit but you can break that same habit overnight... Well the good habits anyway.... Somehow it works the other way for those bad habits.... But I digress...

So I build myself up in my most holy faith, I turn my music on and I start jumping. I start to feel the heaviness of my body but I keep jumping. After about five minutes... The heaviness leaves and I'm feeling my energy take over and it's like I never took that break. My body remembered and my mind became subject to my body's ability to do what it was used to doing. I started to get excited! I just knew for sure that my break away from working out would have erased my previous triumphs and I would have to start all over again... But it wasn't like that. I was right where I left off.

I started thinking about how we stop praying or reading our word, or going to church and it becomes harder to do it because we have been out of the loop. The biggest hindrance to beginning again is that we don't want to feel the heaviness of guilt or distance that comes from not having been in that place for a while. We have a hard time believing that God is not holding our hiatus against us. But He's not. He understands our battles and is ready whenever we are to pick back up where you left off. He remembers and in His presence God will give you the strength to lay aside that heaviness and enjoy the triumphs you have gained being His child. Don't compare God's love to man's love... We can't come close to loving the way He loves. He loves us back to His standards with His mercy and His direction. He keeps us going with His acceptance and His encouragement. I am a recipient of this first hand.

So today, get in position and let God love on you. Lay aside whatever weighs you down and keeps you from The Lord. Step out and do one thing you haven't done in a while. Read your bible today. Pray to Him with the confidence that He hears you and is concerned for you. Before you know it, you will be back and you will want more.... Blessings today!

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Hebrews 12:1

Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16

Yesterday church was off the chain. Amidst all the good stuff, there was a song that was sang and it captured my heart. The line was this... "When You call I won't delay". It's from the song None But Jesus by Hillsong. I was so humbled at the desire our Lord has to even commune with us. The fact that He would call us to speak to us and be with us is so affirming. Never mind the fact that His calling is not based on my imperfections or rejections of Him over and over but simply stemming from His undying and unfailing love for me. He has the upmost confidence in Himself that His love can cover my wrong and whoo me at the same time. My Lord!!! And if that were not enough, there is an understood relationship that God will call again and again. I felt such a peace about what my existence meant to my Heavenly Father. He wants me and He is waiting for me!!!

Stop listening to everyones's perspective of God and how He sees you and find out for yourself. When He calls you.. answer. It may be through a tugging in your heart to read the bible, spend time in prayer, listen to a confirming word spoken through media, quiet time to meditate on God's revealed promises... And the list goes on. What has God told you lately? It won't always be good to the ears because sometimes He needs to correct us and set us on a straight path, but it will be good to the soul and will confirm your purpose and strengthen you to embrace that next big step towards greatness.

Taste and see that The Lord is good... You will enjoy Him more than a sweet dessert after a good meal, and that's the truth!
